Eiteljorg Museum of American Indians & Western Art, one of only two museums east of the Mississippi with both Native American and Western art. Make sure to take a look at the building's distinctive design, inspired by the land and architecture of the American Southwest.

The Indy Speedway. Dating back to 1909, the Indy Speedway is one of the most famous car raceways in the world. Even if you can't join the crowd of 400,000 that comes each May to watch the celebrated Indy 500, stop by for a minibus ride on the speedway. Then visit the museum that traces race car history, including a display of restored speed demons, starting with the first Indy winner in 1911.

Soldiers' & Sailors' Monument/Monument CircleSoldiers' & Sailors' Monument/Monument Circle, located on Monument Circle in the center of downtown. This monument has come to symbolize the city of Indianapolis and the state of Indiana. Tour the Col. Eli Lilly Civil War Museum on the lower level or take the 330-step trip up to the Observation level. Of course, there is always the option of reaching the Observation level by taking the elevator up to step 290!
